Infertility A Warning Sign of Prostate cancer ?
Image via WikipediaThe original article published in www.medpagetoday.com is interesting, and may open up new front in research to find out how impotency is connected with high grade prostate cancer. Also, some solution may come out.
A large database analysis by researchers gives this possibility that infertility may be a warning signal of aggressive prostate cancer later. Read the clip..
In discussing why infertility and prostate cancer might be linked, the investigators explained that recent studies have implicated defects on the Y chromosome with both conditions and also with disease-specific mortality. Defects that may contribute include faulty DNA repair and, in particular, defects in DNA mismatch repair. Other genetic abnormalities also may play a part, according to the investigators. “Although the downstream effects of these abnormalities may lead directly to disease, they also may increase susceptibility to the negative influence of environmental factors,” they wrote. |

Impotence may be Linked to Heart Attack
Researcher say, impotence is predictor of heart attack for the fact that, when penile arteries are narrowed what speak of coronary arteries. It may be that testosterone deficiency at a later age may be the cause, which reduces sexual activity, a short of exercise at least two three times a week. Lack of sexual activity also related to type II diabetes. Testosterone gel application helps in control of blood glucose. Cramps in the limb muscles and changes in arteries in eyes, well could predict heart attack, which denotes macro-vascular changes.

Impotence is linked to inadequate blood flow in the penile arteries. These are much smaller than coronary arteries. So for some men, a persistent failure to get an erection might be an early sign that his arteries are narrowing. As well as being twice as likely to die or have a heart attack, those with impotence were also 10% more likely to have a stroke and 20% more likely to be hospitalised for heart failure, after adjusting for factors like age and smoking. The study confirms previous research that has linked impotence and cardiovascular disease. It has been welcomed by British experts.

How to Stop Phishing Posts in Blogger
To my utter surprise, to-day, I noticed in my twitter profile that reviews on different TVs have been written and the links are coming from my health blog; “From A Clinician’s Bioscope”. I was surprised and thought that I might have allowed access to some application in mistake to access my “Twitter” account, what sometimes I do. So, I deleted the posts and tried to search for the applications but found none. I remained silent to notice the same posts again and again in short intervals. That was very much annoying. I went to my blogger account and changed the password, thinking that somebody might have stolen it. But, again same posts appeared in blogger much to my annoyance. I then wanted to know the possible cause from my son who maintains web site “Tech Fuzon” on internet tip and tricks and is well versed in it. He provided me the clue, saying that somebody might have been posting all these via e-mail. It is easy to guess the e-mail ID to post in blogger. That has to be disabled. Some of my fellow bloggers might be facing the same situation and that is why, I wanted to post it.
So, the email post option to blogger has to be disabled or a difficult ID has to be chosen.
First of all to disable email posting;
Go to blogger and logon to it with your email ID and password of Google as usual.
Look up to see settings tab and open the link.
Now many options will be seen, click on email and mobile,
,
Look down and find; “Posting Options”.
Now find “email posting address”.
Disable it and save the settings.
Alternatively, if one is habituated to post from his email;
Follow all the steps as above up to “email posting address”
Fill up the blank space in the box with some difficult word and never divulge to anybody.
Save the settings after allowing other posting options.
And, perhaps you are done.

While I was pursuing undergraduate course in medicine in early 80s, aspirin was available in combination with phenacetin and caffeine as APC tablet; used for treatment of headache associates with common cold. It was also being used in rheumatic fever with very good effect. Subsequently, its use in headache was abandoned seeing the gastrointestinal side effects; bleeding episodes and black stool.
Towards late 80s, it was available for treatment of brain stroke as a clot resolving and blood thinning agent. Somehow, though its use continued for rheumatic fever, other uses almost discontinued for the same reason and when used watched carefully for the adverse effects. Gradually, gastro protective drugs in form of histamine blockers and proton pump inhibitors come up for use and prescribed along with these analgesic and anti-inflammatory drugs to minimize their side effects. Again towards, perhaps late 90s, aspirin came back strongly as a blood thinning agents to be used in low dosages in heart stroke. It is also said that in a situation of acute heart attack, if nothing is available; an aspirin to be given under the tongue to minimize the damages to heart muscle in a heart attack; and still this advice olds good. Late 90s and early 2000 saw a lot of research on the aspirin, and now researchers say that it has a lot of beneficial effects sans the adverse gastro intestinal effects. It is said that aspirin may be helpful in
Preventing recurrence of breast cancer,
Preventing papilloma in colon, which is a precursor of cancer colon and
Preventing atherosclerosis and heart attack.
Perhaps a lot more will come up in future. Cannot researchers stop or take out its adverse effects and make it safe to use?

Some years ago acid pep[tic disease was much more prevalent in the world and also in India. Many variant of surgeries evolved, each having inherent problems. Around 1980, the medicinal treatment of this disease changed the whole scenario. The new proton pump inhibitors (PPI), actually working very nicely to heal the ulcers in the duodenum and stomach. The inhibitors block the pump located in the peptic cells and block the secretion of hydrogen ions; and the ulcers heal naturally. Now-a-days, combination of proton pump inhibitors and agents to tackle H. Pylori are being prescribed; the result is infrequent surgeries for peptic ulcer.
Here is a picture of an ulcer in the lower end of stomach;
The same patient after a treatment period of one and half months; The ulcer has healed almost completely.
And that is the wonder of treatment.
