Circumcision in HIV-infected men and its effect on HIV transmission to female partners in Rakai, Uganda: a randomised controlled trial

Background

Observational studies have reported an association between male circumcision and reduced risk of HIV infection in female partners. We assessed whether circumcision in HIV-infected men would reduce transmission of the virus to female sexual partners.

Interpretation

Circumcision of HIV-infected men did not reduce HIV transmission to female partners over 24 months; longer-term effects could not be assessed. Condom use after male circumcision is essential for HIV prevention.

It is very unlikely that circumcision prevents the spread of aids for men and women.
However, to have sex with a circumcised man is also healthier for a woman. It is much less likely that bacteria are passed on, whereas a virus such as Aids or HIV is a different story.
The same applies to gay relationships.

All the research are being conducted outside India. And regarding prevention of aids among both the partners I am a little skeptical.May be men without circumcision get more minor injuries during sex as compared to the circumcised.Because HIV passes through contact of blood and other body fluids e.g. semen. But circumcised harbors less infection from due to the cleanliness.
