Better Gut Microflora in Breast Fed Babies than Those fed with Formula Milk

There is no substitute of breast milk for babies. It is long known that breast milk is best for babies in various ways.
A group of scientists from the Duke University Medical Center found newborns fed breast milk develop a healthier gut compared to those on infant formula.

There are many millions of bacteria normally colonise the gut. They help the babies in vitamin synthesis, absorption of vitamins, development of immunity, providing protection from allergies and many more ways.
They compared the micro flora from babies fed with breast milk with those fed with formula milk and cow milk. They found that the gut micro flora of milk fed babies give better protection to E.Coli, a bacteria that causes gut infection, than the babies of other groups.
